FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION ACT

Michael Renshaw Remission Order

P.C. 2009-1895 November 26, 2009

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the interest is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2)(see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act(see footnote b), hereby remits interest in the amount of $8,837.46 paid or payable under Part I of the Income Tax Act(see footnote c) by Michael Renshaw for the 1994 taxation year.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order remits to Michael Renshaw $8,837.46, which represents interest charges on arrears of an income tax debt relating to the 1994 taxation year.

The interest accrued due to a circumstance beyond his control and caused a significant financial setback for Mr. Renshaw. The remission is also based on incorrect action on the part of Canada Revenue Agency officials.
