Liard First Nation Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act (see footnote b), hereby remits tax in the amount of $31,174.08, paid under Division II of Part IX of the Excise Tax Act (see footnote c) by Liard First Nation in respect of band management activities during the period beginning on April 1, 1998 and ending on March 31, 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order remits tax in the amount of $31,174.08 representing goods and services tax (GST) rebates that Liard First Nation failed to claim in respect of band management activities. The remission is granted due to incorrect action on the part of Canada Revenue Agency officials in the processing of the band’s rebate claims for the period beginning on April 1, 1998 and ending on March 31, 2000.
