Order Fixing December 17, 2007 as the Date of the Coming into Force of the Act, Other Than Section 13

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Industry, pursuant to section 15 of the Olympic and Paralympic Marks Act, assented to on June 22, 2007, being chapter 25 of the Statutes of Canada, 2007, hereby fixes December 17, 2007 as the day on which that Act, other than section 13, comes into force.
EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Order fixes December 17, 2007 as the day on which the Olympic and Paralympic Marks Act (the "Act"), other than section 13, comes into force.
The Act provides for the protection of Olympic and Paralympic marks and protection against certain misleading business associations between a business and the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games or certain committees associated with those Games. The Act also makes a related amendment to the Trade-marks Act to preclude the registration of a trade-mark whose adoption is prohibited by the Act.
