Temporary Resident Visa Fee (49th International Eucharistic Congress) Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and the Treasury Board, pursuant to subsection 23(2.1) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act, hereby makes the annexed Temporary Resident Visa Fee (49th International Eucharistic Congress) Remission Order.

TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA FEE (49TH INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS) REMISSION ORDER

REMISSION

1. Remission is hereby granted of the fees paid or payable by a person for the processing of an application for a temporary resident visa, under subsection 296(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, in order to attend the 49th Eucharistic Congress taking place in Quebec City during the period beginning on June 11, 2008 and ending on June 22, 2008.

CONDITIONS

2. The remission is granted on the condition that

(a) the person has received an invitation from the organizers of the Congress to attend the event;

(b) the person has the intention to attend or attends the Congress; and

(c) the person files any evidence that may be required by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration to determine their eligibility for remission.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

For the purpose of facilitating the entry of persons attending the 49th International Eucharistic Congress taking place in Quebec City during the period beginning on June 11, 2008 and ending on June 22, 2008, the Order grants remission of the fee of $75 for the processing of an application for a temporary resident visa under subsection 296(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.
