PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYMENT ACT

Special Appointment Regulations, No. 2006-12

Whereas, pursuant to subsection 20(1) of the Public Service Employment Act (see footnote a), the Public Service Commission has decided that it is neither practicable nor in the best interests of the public service to apply that Act, with the exception of sections 111 to 122, to Arthur J. Carty on his appointment to the position of National Science Advisor to the Minister of Industry, and while employed in that position, and wishes to exclude Arthur J. Carty from the application of that Act, with the exception of sections 111 to 122, on his appointment to the position of National Science Advisor to the Minister of Industry, and while employed in that position;

And whereas, pursuant to section 21 of the Public Service Employment Act (see footnote b), the Public Service Commission recommends that the Governor in Council make the annexed Special Appointment Regulations, No. 2006-12;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council,

(a) on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to subsection 20(1) of the Public Service Employment Act (see footnote c), hereby approves the exclusion that the Public Service Commission wishes to make of Arthur J. Carty from the application of that Act, with the exception of sections 111 to 122, on his appointment to the position of National Science Advisor to the Minister of Industry, and while employed in that position; and

(b) on the recommendation of the Prime Minister and the Public Service Commission, pursuant to section 21 of the Public Service Employment Act (see footnote d), hereby makes the annexed Special Appointment Regulations, No. 2006-12.

SPECIAL APPOINTMENT REGULATIONS, NO. 2006-12

GENERAL

1. The Governor in Council may appoint Arthur J. Carty to the position of National Science Advisor to the Minister of Industry, to hold office during pleasure.

COMING INTO FORCE

2. These Regulations come into force on May 8, 2006.
