Order Fixing October 5, 2005 as the Date of the Coming into Force of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 85 of An Act to establish the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development and to amend and repeal certain related Acts, assented to on July 20, 2005, being chapter 34 of the Statutes of Canada, 2005, hereby fixes October 5, 2005, as the day on which that Act comes into force, other than sections 82 and 83, which came into force on assent.
EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Order fixes October 5, 2005, as the day on which An Act to establish the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development and to amend and repeal certain related Acts comes into force, other than sections 82 and 83, which came into force on assent.
The Act establishes the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development over which presides the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development. It defines the powers, duties and functions of the Minister as well as those of the Minister of Labour and of the Canada Employment Insurance Commission. The Act also sets out rules for the protection and the making available of personal information obtained under departmental programs.
