AN ACT TO AMEND THE PARLIAMENT OF CANADA ACT (ETHICS COMMISSIONER AND SENATE ETHICS OFFICER) AND OTHER ACTS IN CONSEQUENCE

Order Fixing June 1, 2005 as the Date of the Coming into Force of Certain Sections of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 42 of An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act (Ethics Commissioner and Senate Ethics Officer) and other Acts in consequence, assented to on March 31, 2004, being chapter 7 of the Statutes of Canada, 2004, hereby fixes June 1, 2005 as the day on which sections 1 and 3 of that Act come into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order fixes June 1, 2005, as the day on which sections 1 and 3 of An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act (Ethics Commissioner and Senate Ethics Officer) and other Acts in consequence come into force.

Section 1 of the Act repeals sections 14 and 15 of the Parliament of Canada Act.

Section 3 of the Act replaces sections 34 to 40 of the Parliament of Canada Act by section 35 of that Act, which relates to the disqualification of any member of the House of Commons on the member's acceptance of an ineligible office or commission.
