Order Fixing July 17, 2000 as the Date of the Coming into Force of Part 3 of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Human Resources Development, pursuant to section 22 of the Budget Implementation Act, 2000, assented to on June 29, 2000, being chapter 14 of the Statutes of Canada, 2000, hereby fixes July 17, 2000, as the day on which Part 3 of that Act comes into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order fixes July 17, 2000, as the day on which Part 3 of the Budget Implementation Act, 2000 comes into force. Part 3 amends the Canada Student Financial Assistance Act to provide for the financing of student loans by the Minister of Human Resources Development. It allows the Minister to enter into agreements with financial institutions and private sector service providers to administer the loans on behalf of the government.
