PERSONAL INFORMATION PROTECTION AND ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS ACT

Order Fixing the Dates of the Coming into Force of Certain Parts of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Industry and the Minister of Justice, pursuant to section 72 of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, assented to on April 13, 2000, being chapter 5 of the Statutes of Canada, 2000, hereby fixes

(a) May 1, 2000 as the day on which Parts 2, 3 and 4 of that Act come into force; and

(b) January 1, 2001 as the day on which Part 1 of that Act comes into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order fixes May 1, 2000 as the day on which Parts 2, 3 and 4 of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act come into force, and January 1, 2001 as the day on which Part 1 of that Act comes into force.
