CANADA MARINE ACT

Order declaring that the provisions contemplated by subsection 205(1) of the Act shall come into force on a day or days to be fixed by order

P.C. 1998-2188 10 December, 1998

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, pursuant to subsection 205(1) of the Canada Marine Act, assented to on June 11, 1998, being chapter 10 of the Statutes of Canada, 1998, hereby declares that the provisions of that Act contemplated by that subsection and not yet in force come into force on a day or days to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order declares that the provisions of the Canada Marine Act contemplated by subsection 205(1) of the Act and not yet in force come into force on a day or days to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.

The Order is necessary as without such declaration certain provisions of the Act that are not yet in force and are not specified in subsection 205(2) of that Act would automatically come into force on January 1, 1999.

The coming into force of those provisions, including those that continue certain ports as port authorities and others as public ports and related provisions such as the dissolution of the Canada Ports Corporation, is postponed.
