AN ACT TO AMEND THE CANADA SHIPPING ACT AND TO MAKE CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS TO OTHER ACTS

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, pursuant to subsection 35(1) of An Act to amend the Canada Shipping Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, assented to on June 11, 1998, being chapter 16 of the Statutes of Canada, 1998, hereby fixes October 31, 1998 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act come into force:
(a) the repeal of the definitions "British ship" and "pleasure yacht" in section 2 of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by subsection 1(1);
(b) the replacement of the definition "passenger" in section 2 of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by subsection 1(2);
(c) subsection 1(3);
(d) the addition of the definitions "pleasure craft", "special purpose personnel" and "special purpose ship" to section 2 of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by subsection 1(4);
(e) sections 4 to 10;
(f) sections 12 to 15;
(g) sections 17 to 19;
(h) sections 21 to 23; and
(i) sections 33 and 34.
