Alcan Aluminium Ltd. hereby gives notice that an application has been made to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans under the Navigable Waters Protection Act for approval of the plans and site of the work described herein. Under section 9 of the said Act, Alcan Aluminium Ltd. has deposited with the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, and in the office of the District Registrar of the Land Registry District of Lac-Saint-Jean-Est, at Alma, Quebec, under deposit number 215,648, a description of the site and plans of a boom measuring 280 metres long located upstream from weir No. 3 of the Isle-Maligne generating station on La Grande-Décharge River at Alma, within a bay of the Isle-Maligne which is part of the Grande-Décharge islands, in the Township of De l'Île.

REDUCTION OF STATED CAPITAL

Notice is hereby given of the intention of B2B Trust (the "Trust"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Laurentian Bank of Canada, to apply to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada) [the "Superintendent"], in accordance with section 78 of the Trust and Loan Companies Act (the "Act"), for the approval of the Superintendent of a reduction in the stated capital of the Trust as contemplated by a special resolution adopted by the sole shareholder of the Trust dated December 15, 2000, and which reads as follows:

"RESOLVED as a Special Resolution:

1. That the Company hereby reduces by an amount of $10,000,000.00 the amount of the stated capital account maintained for the Common Shares of the Company by distributing $10,000,000.00 to the sole holder of shares of the Company;

2. That said reduction of capital is in addition to the reduction of capital in an amount of $50,000,000.00 already approved by special resolution of the sole shareholder of the Company dated May 11, 2000, approval of which has been applied for to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (Canada); and

3. That any director or any officer of the Company is hereby authorised, for, on behalf of and in the name of the Company, to sign, execute and deliver any and all notices or other documents and to do such other acts and things as may be considered necessary or desirable to give effect to this Special Resolution."

Under section 9 of the said Act, the Ministry of Transportation and Highways of British Columbia has deposited with the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, at Vancouver, British Columbia, and in the office of the District Registrar of the Land Registry District of Kamloops, in Kamloops, British Columbia, under deposit number KP06512, Drawing Number 6457-01 rev.A, being a plan of the proposed bridge for Kalso South Fork Road, to be built over the Kalso River (North Fork) all within Highway rights-of-way in Plan 493, Block 1 and Block 18 and District Lot 819, near Kalso, British Columbia. This will replace an existing bridge downstream. The proposed clearance above high water will be 2.9 m with a channel width of 11 m. This exceeds the clearance at the existing bridge.
