Iodinated Contrast Media Used for Radiographic Imaging

On June 15, 2000, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal gave notice that it had initiated a public interest investigation (Public Interest Investigation No. PB-2000-001) under section 45 of the Special Import Measures Act respecting the dumping in Canada of certain iodinated contrast media used for radiographic imaging, in solutions of osmolality less than 900 mOsm/kg H2O, originating in or exported from the United States of America (including the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico).

The Notice of Commencement of Public Interest Investigation indicated that the date for making submissions was July 4, 2000, the date for distribution of the record was July 5, 2000, the date for filing of reply submissions was July 12, 2000, and the date of the hearing was July 17, 2000, at 9:30 a.m.

Notice is hereby given that the date for making submissions is changed to July 6, 2000, the date for distribution of the record is changed to July 7, 2000, the date for filing of reply submissions is changed to July 14, 2000, and the date of the hearing is changed to July 19, 2000, at 9:30 a.m.

CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL TRADE TRIBUNAL

FINDING

Hot-rolled Carbon Steel Plate

In the matter of an inquiry, under section 42 of the Special Import Measures Act, respecting the dumping in Canada of certain hot-rolled carbon steel plate originating in or exported from Brazil, Finland, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Ukraine, and the subsidizing of certain hot-rolled carbon steel plate originating in or exported from India, Indonesia and Thailand.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal, under the provisions of section 42 of the Special Import Measures Act, has conducted an inquiry (Inquiry No. NQ-99-004) following the issuance by the Commissioner of the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency of a preliminary determination dated February 28, 2000, and of a final determination dated May 29, 2000, respecting the dumping in Canada of certain hot-rolled carbon steel plate originating in or exported from Brazil, Finland, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Ukraine, and the subsidizing of certain hot-rolled carbon steel plate originating in or exported from India, Indonesia and Thailand.

Pursuant to subsection 43(1) of the Special Import Measures Act, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal hereby finds that the dumping in Canada of the aforementioned goods originating in or exported from Brazil, Finland, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Ukraine, and the subsidizing of the aforementioned goods originating in or exported from India, Indonesia and Thailand have caused material injury to the domestic industry.

The statement of reasons will be issued within 15 days.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (the Tribunal) has received a complaint (File No. PR-2000-015) from Trans-Cycle Industries Inc., of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, concerning a procurement (Solicitation No. EJ297-8-0005/B) by the Department of Public Works and Government Services. The solicitation is for the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of PCB-contaminated solid and liquid wastes. Pursuant to subsection 30.13(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Act and subsection 7(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Procurement Inquiry Regulations, notice is hereby given that the Tribunal has decided to conduct an inquiry into this complaint.

It is alleged that the evaluation process was not conducted according to the Request for Proposal.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (the Tribunal) has received a complaint (File No. PR-2000-017) from TELUS Integrated Communications Inc., of Ottawa, Ontario, concerning a procurement (Solicitation No. 21120-00-7510) by the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). The solicitation is for the installation and operation of a telephone system to be used by inmates in federal correctional facilities. Pursuant to subsection 30.13(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Act and subsection 7(2) of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Procurement Inquiry Regulations, notice is hereby given that the Tribunal has decided to conduct an inquiry into this complaint.

It is alleged that the CSC has violated a number of the provisions of the Agreement on Internal Trade.

The licensee proposes the distribution of this signal on the basic band; and to be relieved from the requirement found in the same paragraph of the Regulations to distribute the priority local signal of CFTF-TV-4 (TQS) Forestville, because of the poor reception quality of the signal. It proposes to distribute instead CFJP-TV (TQS) Montréal, received via satellite, on the basic band.
