PUBLIC HEARING
TransCanada Pipelines Limited — 1999 Facilities Application
The National Energy Board ("Board") has scheduled a public hearing with respect to an application made by TransCanada PipeLines Limited ("TransCanada") under the National Energy Board Act with respect to the installation of additional facilities to be added to TransCanada's system in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
The oral portion of the hearing will commence at 9 a.m., local time, Monday, October 5, 1998, in the National Energy Board Hearing Room, 444 Seventh Avenue SW, Second Floor, Calgary, Alberta. The Board will conduct an environmental screening of the proposed facilities pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
The proposed facilities, along with a proposed alternative mechanism for meeting requirements, will enable TransCanada to provide a net increase in firm transportation service of 5 642 103m3/d (199.2 MMcfd) to customers in eastern Canada and the United States midwest and northeast. The facilities comprise 156.1 km (97 miles) of pipeline looping, four compressor units totalling 113.2 MW of compression, one aftercooler, manifolds at one compressor station, upgrades to existing meter facilities and compression-related items including standby plants and aero assemblies, to be added to TransCanada's system in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
